Ronald Ssekiganda of SC Villa set to Join APR FC
Reliable sources indicate that Ronald Ssekiganda, captain of SC Villa in Uganda and a key player for the Uganda Cranes, is on the verge of signing with APR FC, Rwanda’s top football club.
The 25-year-old midfielder, known for his defensive skills in central midfield and his versatility to also play as a number 8 or 10, is expected to strengthen APR FC as the club prepares to compete in the CAF Champions League group stages.
Ssekiganda made a strong impression last season, helping SC Villa contend for the Ugandan Premier League title. He now looks to elevate his career to the international stage, with APR FC determined to make a deep run in this year’s continental tournament.
Sources close to the deal confirm that negotiations are in their final stages, and the official announcement could come within the next few days.
APR FC, which is backed by Rwanda’s military, is actively strengthening its squad as it sets its sights on qualifying for the CAF Champions League group phase.
Ssekiganda’s current contract at SC Villa is expected to end by June this year. He joined the club in 2019 from Kampala Regional side CATDA and also made his mark playing for Bulemeezi in the Buganda Masaza Cup, where he won the 2019 championship after defeating Busiro in the finals at Namboole, earning the MVP award.
Since joining SC Villa, Ssekiganda has established himself as a pivotal figure, helping the club secure last season’s Uganda Premier League title, ending a 20-year drought.
He has also been a crucial player for the Uganda Cranes, featuring prominently in both the recent AFCON Qualifier campaign and the ongoing FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
We are closely monitoring this development, but there is no doubt that Ronald Ssekiganda would be a major addition to the team.
